A new tribally owned wireless company is bringing competition to the Internet business on the Blackfeet Reservation and Cut Bank...
Siyeh Corporation, the economic development arm of the Blackfeet Nation, and CommunityTel Inc., through its subsidiary, Ronan Telephone Company (RTC), have created a partnership to provide telecommunications and internet services to the residents, institutions and businesses on or near the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.
This new service option, Oki Communications, is radio-based which makes use of the license that was purchased in a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wireless spectrum auction in September 2002.
The long-term goal of the partnership is to build a self-sustaining, independent, community based telecommunications utility to serve all of Blackfeet Country.
